ALLOY quenching and tempering steels
Alloy quenching and tempering steels
In the range of quenching and tempering steels, CrMo steels such as 25CrMo4, 30CrMo4, 42CrMo4 and 50CrMo4 are widely used. These steels differ from each other in their carbon content and consequently in their hardenability. Two of these steels, 25CrMoS4 and 42CrMoS4, are also available in a micro-resulphurized version and one of them, 42CrMo4Pb, also in a lead-added version to achieve the best performance during machining. In the category of NiCrMo steels, which due to the presence of nickel are more hardenable and tougher than CrMo steels, we find 39NiCrMo3, also available in its Pb version, 34CrNiMo6 and finally 40NiCrMo7.
