Steels for fastners
B7, the most commonly used steel for the production of fasteners for the oil and gas sector, is in the catalogue.
Where lower mechanical properties are required to produce fasteners that can withstand chlorine and sulphur-rich environments, B7M can be used.
B16 is the ideal steel for fasteners used in high-temperature environments, such as turbines or petrochemical industries, while in low-temperature environments it is preferable to use L7 or its lower mechanical properties version, L7M.
American-standard carbon steels
Then there are the American ASTM standard carbon steels, such as LF2, in the two class 1 and 2 versions, used for the production of flanges operating at low temperatures, and A105, similar to LF2 but not suitable for use below room temperature.
Nitriding steels
Within the nitriding steels, 41CrAlMo7-10 is undoubtedly one of the most widely used steels due to its high hardenability and the presence of aluminum in the alloy, which facilitates the formation of high-hardness nitrides.
Bearing steels
100Cr6 is undoubtedly the most widely used steel in the bearing industry: it is always supplied in the globular annealed state and only after machining is it hardened and stress-relieved to achieve high hardness and wear resistance.
Structural steels
Classic structural steels, S235JR and S235JRC, are characterised by their minimum tensile strength of 235 MPa and their weldability.
When higher mechanical properties are required, it is advisable to use S355JR or its drawn version, S355JRC.
